Interested in finding out more about Music and Artificial Intelligence?

Good to know you are, my friend. So am I. So I’ve compiled a list with companies that are currently providing an incredible contribution to the development of AI composed music.

Part 1 revealed 7 companies producing music with AI and now on Part 2 I will present you 8 other additional examples.

Hope you enjoy and will visit their site to get to know more. This is simply the start of an immense revolution that will change completely how we perceive music and deal with compositions and artists.

Here we go!

Companies Producing Music With Artificial Intelligence

1. Google Brain: Magenta

Description: “Magenta is a research project exploring the role of machine learning in the process of creating art and music. Primarily this involves developing new deep learning and reinforcement learning algorithms for generating songs, images, drawings, and other materials. But it’s also an exploration in building smart tools and interfaces that allow artists and musicians to extend (not replace!) their processes using these models. Magenta was started by some researchers and engineers from the Google Brain team but many others have contributed significantly to the project. We use TensorFlow and release our models and tools in open source on our GitHub. If you’d like to learn more about Magenta, follow this blog, where we post technical details. You can also join our discussion group.” (Official website).

2. Google Experiments: Music and AI

Description: “AI Experiments is a showcase for simple experiments that make it easier for anyone to start exploring machine learning, through pictures, drawings, language, music, and more.” (Official Website). Curently Google Experiments provides three extremely insightful examples of AI music experiments: AI Duet, Bird sounds (where thousands of bid sounds can be found) and NSYNTH – Sound maker (Where users can create new sounds though machine learning).

3. Brain.FM

Description: What is Brain.Fm? Music created music designed for the brain to enhance focus, relaxation, meditation, naps and sleep within 10 – 15 minutes of use. Who makes the music? We’ve invented an AI engine that composes all of the music. The AI has the brain of a neuroscientist and the heart of a musician. Who are we? We are a collective of musicians, engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs obsessed with exploring and expanding music’s relationship to the brain. (Official website).

4. Ludwig 3.0

Description: “Ludwig is a music software for Windows that helps you to write your own songs. You simply enter or play a melody. Ludwig does the rest: he finds the proper chords and writes all parts of a professionally sounding band. It was never easier to compose, arrange or accompany songs! Ludwigs artificial intelligence approach is innovative and unique: The parts are written note by note, like a human would do. This achieves an unrivaled musical quality. Ludwig is easy to use. It takes a few clicks to get a full arrangement from a broad variety of styles. And if you don’t want to enter your own melodies: Just load them from the included database of 450 public domain songs”. (Official website).
