I am supper happy to introduce our brand-new interview series, AI and Creativity. This series focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence and creativity, featuring thought-provoking conversations with academics, artists, and practitioners who are shaping this evolving landscape.
Each episode will explore both the practical implications and the philosophical debates surrounding AI’s impact on creative industries, making it a must-watch for anyone curious about the future of art, technology, and human expression.
Our first episode features an enlightening discussion with Ali Nikrang, a visionary artist and researcher whose work exemplifies the union of music and artificial intelligence. Ali holds dual expertise in computer science and classical music, having studied at Johannes Kepler University and Mozarteum University. As a researcher and artist at the renowned Ars Electronica Futurelab and a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, Nikrang brings a unique perspective to the table.
In this premiere interview, we discuss Ali’s projects, including his work in AI-driven music composition. He shares how AI tools can assist and inspire musicians, not as competitors but as collaborators, enhancing human creativity rather than replacing it. Beyond the technical, the discussion ventures into profound questions: Can AI truly be creative? What does it mean for human identity when machines contribute to traditionally human domains like art and music?
